No work day! Yay!‏

I had to take off work today to go in for my rabies shot that the Red Cross couldn't offer me yesterday. Long story short, I waited from 8:30 to 11:30 to be told I had to wait another hour to see a different doctor that specialized in dog bites. They have a program and team assigned to dog attacks where they go to the site and monitor the dog for signs of rabies for 10 days in order to avoid giving patients a series of painful shots for no reason. So no shot, but some antibiotics that make me sick to my stomach and some pain killers for the bruises. And all free :-) so I called in sick to both jobs and spent my day partly wanting to cry, laugh, and vomit and got literally no work done for my classes tomorrow. I was told I could take the day from the Uni tomorrow if I need it but that would mean getting behind in an already shortened semester and I'm not sure it'd be worth it.
Took advantage of my free time and made a dentists appt. No cavities! She checked out my "tooth" and was baffled when it didn't show up on the x-ray ( she processed it right there in her sink). No extra tooth, but she did confirm I have bone coming out of my palette where it shouldn't be and the dark area on the X-ray where above my teeth is a pocket of very not dense stuff, aka liquid. She said if my mouth doesn't taste bad it's not an infection, but have me a rinse just in case. Said its probably some tooth fragments from before finally being rejected and pushed out. She could dig em out but said there's no reason if I'm not in pain. Also I'm going to get my teeth whitened so she took a mold for that (all my coffee drinking has done some damage) and that'll be ready on Saturday. It's the tray kind so my teeth won't get all sensitive like in laser treatment. We'll see how that goes.
Now back to work! Chula says hi!

Emily's day of adventure!‏

1. Saw KFC in the center on the way to church. (I've gone the last two Sundays with Gerardo's sister, liking it a lot so far, more on that later). Inquired about biscuit prices (the best part of KFC), 14 pesos a pop, yikes.
2. Bit by dog after church. A poor scared Rottweiler tied up to the junkyard next to the church. Smacking the dust out of the fur of said scared dog was a bad idea. Dog proceeded to attack my arms, then lick me with a sad face.
3. Went to Red Cross to have wounds cleaned and going in for my anti-rabies shot part 1 tomorrow. Couldn't get stitches for fear of infection so i get to do home wound care - Yesssss
All this before 4pm?! What more can a girl ask for?!?
About to prep my classes and watch the rest of the Oscar noms.

Addendum:
Bob later wrote to Emily,"I'm sure that most rational peoples' inclination would be to pet scared tied up attack dogs. Maybe."
Emily wrote back,"Well in my defense, the dog was very submissive before. I'd pet it the last week and she was very sweet and licked a lot. I was wiping the dust off her and she thought I was attacking and bit me, several times. Afterwards (aka far too late) they told me that the dog had nipped others too when they touched her as she was eating. At least I didn't do that!
I should have gotten a stitch or two but they said they can't close animal bites because of all the bacteria being closed in, trying to avoid infection (as with puncture wounds in general) so it'll have to heal open (covered with gauze and a net armband) and I have to get 2 rabies shots. They're in the arm and not the old painful in the gut kind. I'm going tomorrow morning before work - let's hope I don't faint!"

Today's Purchases‏

I FINALLY found a keychain with my name on it :-) I think Guanajuato is getting used to me. The Dentist is not available today so I have to call to set up an appt on Monday. Awesome.
Sibs - I'm including you on my pic a day emails so you know what's up in Mehico. My life is not very interesting sometimes but there's random stuff that I take pics of, mostly normal but some Mexican stuff is pretty weird. Mom made a blog of my pics but I'm pretty sure only she and Jill follow it so this way you can get my life updates.
I don't know about you Jill, but I think we have been insulted! Jody
About my tooth. I think I'm growing an extra molar inside of my gums up by the roof in the back. It's disgusting. Look it up on google images. So far only two cusps have erupted ( I think) but I need an X-ray to be sure. Updates to follow. Can you get calcium deposits in your mouth that would look like teeth but aren't? Or anything else for that matter that's hard and white and feels like an extra effing tooth but isn't?

I wrote back: The tooth is probably all that is left from your identical twin that you murdered in utero.
Emily's response: That's terrifying and disgusting and horrible all at the same time! Confirm that I never had a twin, ever!

Paulette's Baptism‏

(Post from February 23rd)

The baptism was soooo different than any that I've experienced. 1. it was in the basilica 2. There were about 10 other babies being baptized at the same time so their heads were oiled and washed factory style, 3. Afterwards we had a roast chicken and sides picnic in the park. It was awesome. I carried another baby (the one born a few weeks before) all afternoon and he was the heaviest baby I've ever handled. He was so dense. My arms felt like I'd been lifting weights nonstop he was such a lug (albeit a precious one). In the church they have a saint statue (attached pic) behind glass. They later told me that she was made of the person's REAL bones with plaster poured over it!

Ghost-busters

( Post from February 21st)

Sending pic from my lazy Sunday and ghost-busters slime-green soap from the hotel I visited for a meeting with a client on Tuesday.

QuinceaƱera‏

(Post from February 17th)

They really know how to party in Mexico! Here's some photos and a video from a "sweet 15" Gerardo and I went to last night. This was a fancy one. Probably spent more money on this than I will on my wedding.
